Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PCU/Telemetry position requiring a VA or compact license and at least 1 year of PCU experience.

Details

• Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU)/Telemetry unit of an acute care hospital with 255 staffed beds
• Care for acutely ill adult patients with a wide variety of medical conditions including cardiac, neuro, renal, infectious disease, and pulmonary cases
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:00
• Required to work every other Saturday with every Sunday off
• Meditech charting system used, experience preferred

Requirements

• Active RN license (VA or Compact) currently in hand
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 1 year of PCU experience required
• Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, central line and peripheral line care, and PICC line management
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tubes, and oxygen administration
• Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration) and heparin protocols
• Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and wound care
• No previous permanent employment with the facility within the past 24 months allowed

Additional Information

• Coordinate direct patient care and provide patient education for a diverse acute care population
• Navy scrub color required
• Fit testing required, including shaving per facility policy unless a provider-approved exemption letter is obtained in advance
• Zero-tolerance policy for THC, including medical marijuana cards
• Drug screening required during compliance and again on day one
• General RN orientation occurs every other Monday
• Holiday coverage expectations scale with the number of holidays falling within the assignment
