Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele night shift position requiring 2 years of MS/Tele experience and NC or compact RN licensure.
Details
- Work in the Med/Surg Tele unit of a short-term acute care, Level III trauma and teaching hospital
- Patient ratio of 1:5-6
- Night shift schedule (4x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
- Required to work every other weekend
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating required within scope to like units, including hospital or sister campus depending on booking
- Epic EMR used for charting
Requirements
- Active RN license (NC state or compact) currently in hand - pending licenses not accepted
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS (preferred), and NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of MS/Tele nursing experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Teaching hospital and Trauma Level II experience preferred
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line and PICC line management, blood product administration, and telemetry monitoring
- Experience with respiratory care including chest tubes, HFNC, nasal cannula, and tracheostomy care
- Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide skilled nursing care to Med/Surg Tele patients including cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and rapid response/code team coordination
- Manage patients requiring renal, gastrointestinal, and genitourinary care including hemodialysis management and feeding tube care
- Royal blue and white scrub color required
- Must live outside a 50-mile radius from the main campus to be eligible for travel rates
- RTO limited to a maximum of 4 days, with approval for only 1 holiday, per manager discretion
- Returning staff must have been gone for at least 1 year to return as a traveler
- Extensions limited to once for day shift and twice for night shift, followed by a required 6-month break before reapplying
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
