Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PACU position requiring Level I trauma and telemetry experience along with active NM or compact RN licensure.
Details
- Work in the PACU department of a Level I Trauma, teaching, children's hospital providing short-term acute care
- Inpatient PACU RN role with a 1:2 patient ratio
- Day shift schedule with 4x12-hour shifts from 11:00 to 23:30
- Must work 2 of 3 designated holiday bundles (Thanksgiving/day after, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, New Year's Eve/New Year's Day)
- Required to work one weekend per month
- On-call requirement of 1-2 overnight call shifts monthly on a 4-week schedule
- Float required to the PACU Holding area, with ratios ranging from 1:3 to 1:5, equivalent to an inpatient PCU floor assignment
- Pre/Post Cath lab and Pre/Post IR procedures required
- Uses Cerner charting system
- Black scrubs required
- No fee parking available
Requirements
- Active NM or compact RN license required, pending license accepted
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
- RQI certifications not accepted
- Minimum 2 years of PACU experience required
- Level I trauma experience required; Level II trauma experience not accepted
- Telemetry experience required
- Must be willing to perform pre-op care
- Skills required in respiratory care, cardiac monitoring, and dysrhythmia recognition/management
- Care of ventilated patients preferred
- Experience with pre/post cath lab and pre/post IR procedures required
- Candidates with limited to no pediatric experience will be considered
- Charge experience preferred
Additional Information
- Provide post-anesthesia recovery care to inpatients including pre/post cath lab and pre/post IR procedure patients
- First-time travelers will be accepted upon client screening
- No local candidates within 100 miles of the facility
- Requests for time off greater than 7 days require approval
- No time off permitted during the first 7 days or last day of the contract
- COVID vaccine is optional, though candidates must upload vaccination series or declination for facility reporting purposes
- Former staff must have a 12-month separation before returning
- Travelers who have completed 4 consecutive assignments or reached the 1-year mark require a 6-month system break
- Block scheduling is not accommodated for this position
