Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool position requiring PICU experience and PALS/NRP/ACLS certifications.
Details
- Float pool position covering various pediatric units including PICU, NICU, peds med-surg, peds PACU, peds ED boarders, and postpartum/mother-baby
- Teaching hospital environment
- Day shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00-19:00)
- 36 or 48 hours per week
- 13-week assignment length
- Every other weekend and every other holiday required
- Block scheduling cannot be accommodated or guaranteed
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Uses Epic EMR
- Required to float within scope of practice per facility float policy
Requirements
- Active RN license (VA state license or compact) required, pending license accepted
- Current certifications: BLS, NRP, ACLS, and PALS required
- Dr. Brown's Infant Driven Feeding Certificate required (may submit with certification pending)
- Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required
- Must be comfortable with NICU, acute pediatrics, and pediatric ED patient populations
- Previous NICU/PICU float pool experience required for consideration
- Teaching hospital experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- BSN preferred
- Peds PACU experience highly preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
Additional Information
- Provide critical care nursing across multiple pediatric units as part of a float pool team
- Complete specialty-specific orientation modules during onboarding
- Maximum 40 hours of RTO may be approved per 13-week contract, with no additional RTO approved after offer acceptance
- No RTO can be approved during the first 2 weeks of the assignment
- Any planned vacation between sign date and start date must be disclosed to determine an appropriate start date
- Candidates with previous employment at this facility as permanent staff or travelers must have a 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
- External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility and are not eligible to return once that threshold is reached
- First-time travelers will be considered if they have prior NICU/PICU float pool experience
