Description

American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool RN requiring PICU and NICU experience for a 13-week day shift assignment.

Details

• Float pool position covering PICU, NICU, peds medsurg, peds PACU, peds ED boarders, and postpartum/mother baby units
• Day shift, 4x12 hours (7:00-19:00), 36 or 48 hours per week
• Block scheduling cannot be accommodated or guaranteed
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• 13-week assignment length
• 1:2 patient ratio
• Floating required within scope of practice as needed per facility float policy
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active VA RN license or compact license (pending license accepted, must be in hand by the Wednesday before start date)
• 2 years of PICU experience required
• Must be comfortable with NICU, acute pediatrics, and pediatric ED patient populations
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Previous travel experience required, or previous NICU/PICU float pool experience considered
• Required certifications: BLS, NRP, ACLS, PALS
• Dr. Brown's Infant Driven Feeding Certificate required (may submit with certification pending)
• Peds PACU experience highly preferred
• Charge experience preferred
• Community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
• BSN preferred
• Epic charting system experience required
• Two professional references required

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing support across multiple pediatric units as part of a float pool team
• Skills relevant to this role may include respiratory care (ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, ETCO2 monitoring), IV therapy, renal replacement therapy, cardiovascular monitoring, and neurologic care
• Experience with high-acuity equipment such as ECMO, CRRT, ICP monitoring, and ventricular assist devices is valued
• Specialty-specific orientation modules completed during onboarding
• Maximum of 40 hours RTO per 13-week contract; no additional time off approved after offer acceptance or during the first two weeks of the assignment
• Any pre-start vacation plans between sign date and start date must be disclosed early to arrange a realistic start date
• Previous employment with the facility as permanent staff or traveler requires a 1-year separation period and leadership approval
• External travelers may not exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility
• First-time travelers may be considered if they have relevant NICU/PICU float pool experience
