Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool position requiring PICU experience and prior float pool or travel experience.

Details

• Teaching hospital setting floating within the SRO Float Pool to various pediatric units including PICU, NICU, Peds Med-Surg, Peds PACU, Peds ED boarders, and Postpartum/Mother Baby
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Day shift schedule with 4x12 hour shifts (7:00 AM to 7:00 PM)
• Scheduled for 36 or 48 hours per week with every other weekend required
• Must work 2 out of 3 winter holidays
• Block scheduling cannot be accommodated or guaranteed
• Floating required within scope of practice as needed per facility float policy
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active VA state RN license or compact license required (pending license accepted)
• Current certifications required: BLS, NRP, ACLS, and PALS
• Dr. Brown's Infant Driven Feeding Certificate required (may submit with certification pending)
• Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required
• Must be comfortable with NICU, Acute Pediatrics, and Pediatric ED patient populations
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Prior travel or float pool experience required, though candidates with previous NICU/PICU float pool experience will be considered
• Epic EMR experience required
• Peds PACU experience highly preferred
• BSN preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing support across multiple pediatric units as part of a float pool team
• Specialty-specific orientation modules completed during onboarding
• Maximum of 40 hours RTO allowed per 13-week contract; no additional RTO approved after the first two weeks of assignment
• Any vacation time between sign date and start date must be disclosed to arrange an appropriate start date
• First-time travelers will be considered if they have relevant NICU/PICU float pool experience
• Previous UVA employees (permanent staff or travelers) must have at least 1 year separation and leadership approval before returning
• Travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility and are not eligible to return once this threshold is reached
• Longer assignment length may be available through 01/02/2027
