Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool position requiring 2 years of PICU experience and comfort floating to NICU, acute pediatrics, and the pediatric ED.

Details

• Float pool position within a teaching hospital, floating to PICU, NICU, pediatric medsurg, pediatric PACU, pediatric ED boarders, and postpartum/mother-baby units
• Pediatric critical care patient population including PICU, NICU, and acute pediatric cases
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 to 19:00
• Scheduled for 36 or 48 hours per week
• Every other weekend required
• Must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays
• Block scheduling cannot be accommodated or guaranteed
• Required to float within scope of practice per facility float policy
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license required (pending license accepted)
• Required certifications: BLS, NRP, ACLS, and PALS
• Dr. Brown's Infant-Driven Feeding Certificate required (may submit with certification pending)
• Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required
• Must be comfortable with NICU, acute pediatrics, and pediatric ED patient care
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Pediatric PACU experience highly preferred
• Previous NICU/PICU float pool travel experience considered in lieu of standard travel experience requirement
• Epic EMR experience required
• BSN preferred
• Two professional references required

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing support across multiple pediatric units as part of a float pool team
• Complete specialty-specific orientation modules recorded through the facility's system
• Maximum of 40 hours RTO per 13-week contract, with no additional RTO approved after offer acceptance
• No RTO approved during the first two weeks of the assignment
• Any planned time off between sign date and start date must be disclosed prior to scheduling a start date
• Previous UVA Health permanent staff or travelers must have at least a 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
• External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility
• Travelers reaching 365 total assignment days are not eligible to return, regardless of time away
• First-time travelers with previous NICU/PICU float pool experience will be considered
