Description
American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool position requiring 2 years of PICU experience and comfort floating to NICU, acute pediatrics, and the pediatric ED.
Details
- Float pool position within a teaching hospital, floating to PICU, NICU, pediatric medsurg, pediatric PACU, pediatric ED boarders, and postpartum/mother-baby units
- Pediatric critical care patient population including PICU, NICU, and acute pediatric cases
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 to 19:00
- Scheduled for 36 or 48 hours per week
- Every other weekend required
- Must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays
- Block scheduling cannot be accommodated or guaranteed
- Required to float within scope of practice per facility float policy
- Epic EMR experience required
Requirements
- Active VA or compact RN license required (pending license accepted)
- Required certifications: BLS, NRP, ACLS, and PALS
- Dr. Brown's Infant-Driven Feeding Certificate required (may submit with certification pending)
- Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required
- Must be comfortable with NICU, acute pediatrics, and pediatric ED patient care
- Teaching hospital experience required
- Pediatric PACU experience highly preferred
- Previous NICU/PICU float pool travel experience considered in lieu of standard travel experience requirement
- Epic EMR experience required
- BSN preferred
- Two professional references required
Additional Information
- Provide critical care nursing support across multiple pediatric units as part of a float pool team
- Complete specialty-specific orientation modules recorded through the facility's system
- Maximum of 40 hours RTO per 13-week contract, with no additional RTO approved after offer acceptance
- No RTO approved during the first two weeks of the assignment
- Any planned time off between sign date and start date must be disclosed prior to scheduling a start date
- Previous UVA Health permanent staff or travelers must have at least a 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
- External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility
- Travelers reaching 365 total assignment days are not eligible to return, regardless of time away
- First-time travelers with previous NICU/PICU float pool experience will be considered
