Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with 4+ years of experience and Trauma Level II experience for a night shift position at a teaching hospital.
Details
- Work within the Respiratory Care/Neuro Diagnostics unit at a teaching hospital
- Trauma Level II facility with Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Care for adult critical care and Emergency Department patient populations
- Manage patients with ARDS, aspiration, fresh tracheostomy, pneumonia, and those undergoing bronchoscopy
- Perform ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, SIMV, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
- Administer medications via aerosol, MDI, and nebulizer delivery systems
- Perform airway management including intubation assist, extubation, and suctioning
- Conduct chest physiotherapy and arterial blood gas draws/interpretation
- Provide patient transport support for inter-departmental and ambulance transfers
- Epic EMR experience required
- Night shift schedule, 4x12-hour shifts from 19:00-07:00
- 13-week contract with every other weekend and every other holiday required
- Floating required within scope of practice as needed
Requirements
- Active RRT certification required
- BLS certification required
- ACLS certification preferred
- ACCS certification preferred
- Minimum 4 years of experience required; candidates with 2+ years of experience will be considered
- Teaching hospital experience required
- Trauma Level II experience required
- Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Epic EMR experience required
- BSN preferred
- VA state license required if applicable
- Pending state license accepted provided candidate holds another active state license to obtain temporary licensure before start
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive respiratory therapy services to critically ill adult patients
- Collaborate with critical care and emergency department teams
- Maximum 40 hours of requested time off per 13-week contract, which must be disclosed at time of consideration
- Any vacation time planned between offer acceptance and start date must be disclosed in advance
- Previous UVA Health employees (permanent staff or travelers) must disclose prior employment history
- Former permanent staff or internal travelers require 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
- External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility
- First-time travelers are not required for this role
