Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with 4+ years of experience for a night shift position at a teaching hospital's respiratory/neuro diagnostics unit.
Details
- Work in the Respiratory/Neuro Diagnostics unit at a teaching hospital
- Care for adult critical care and Emergency Department patients
- 18-week assignment with an option to extend through 01/02/2027
- Night shift, 4x12 hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
- 36 or 48 hours per week
- Every other weekend required
- Must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays
- Uses Epic EMR
- Trauma Level II facility with Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Floating required within scope of practice as needed
Requirements
- Minimum 4 years of experience required; candidates with 2+ years may be considered
- RRT certification required
- BLS certification required
- ACLS certification preferred
- ACCS certification preferred
- VA state license required if applicable; pending license accepted if candidate holds another active state license and can obtain a VA temporary license before start date
- Epic EMR experience required
- Teaching hospital experience required
- Trauma Level II experience required
- Trauma Level I experience preferred
- BSN preferred
- Experience with ventilator management, including BiPAP, CPAP, and SIMV
- Experience with airway management including intubation assist, extubation, and suctioning
- Experience drawing and interpreting arterial blood gases (ABGs)
- Experience with medication delivery systems including MDIs, nebulizers, and aerosol setups
- Experience caring for patients with ARDS, aspiration, pneumonia, and fresh tracheostomy
- Two professional references required
- Copies of all required certifications required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide respiratory care services including ventilator management, airway management, and medication administration
- Perform chest physiotherapy, including vest therapy
- Conduct patient transport for inter-departmental and ambulance transfers
- Assist with bronchoscopy procedures and tracheostomy care/management
- Perform pulmonary hygiene and sputum specimen collection
- Troubleshoot high pressure ventilator alarms and assist with weaning from mechanical ventilation
- Maximum of 40 hours RTO permitted per 13-week contract, all RTO must be disclosed prior to submission
- Any vacation time between sign date and start date must be disclosed to determine an appropriate start date
- Candidates who previously worked at the facility as permanent staff or travelers must have a 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
- External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return after reaching this limit
- First-time travelers are accepted for this position
- No radius restriction applies to this unit
