Description

American Traveler is hiring a NICU RN with Level III NICU experience for a night shift position requiring 2 years of experience and NRP certification.

Details

  • Work in the Neonatal ICU (NICU) of a Level II Trauma Center, short-term acute care hospital
  • Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:4
  • Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-07:00)
  • Requires 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Floating required within scope to Pediatrics and Well Baby Nursery (WBN) units
  • Charting completed in Epic
  • Navy blue scrubs required

Requirements

  • Active RN license (VA or Compact) required
  • Current certifications: BLS and NRP; RNC-NIC preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required
  • Level III NICU experience required
  • Experience with conscious sedation, ventilator management, and UAC/UVC maintenance required
  • Proficiency with invasive and noninvasive ventilation, IV access and maintenance, Replogle tubes, chest tubes, thoracentesis, and venous/arterial blood sampling required
  • Experience with surfactant administration required
  • Experience treating conditions including extreme prematurity, RDS, TTN, infection/sepsis, medical NEC, PPHN, pneumothorax, MAS, poor feeding, glucose instability, and respiratory conditions
  • Epic charting experience preferred
  • Current Nursys report required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide specialized care for critically ill neonates including extremely premature infants
  • Perform advanced NICU procedures such as UA/UVC line maintenance, chest tube management, and surfactant administration
  • May float within the facility or to nearby affiliated facilities based on census and volume needs
  • Up to 8 hours of pre-start training modules required within 1 week of signing
  • All required certifications must be obtained prior to start
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate with no radius restriction
  • Requests for RTO exceeding 7 days will require an equivalent extension of the assignment
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Previous employees must have a 1-year separation from the facility before being eligible to return
