Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a 13-week night shift assignment at a teaching hospital, requiring 4+ years of experience and Trauma Level II experience.

• Respiratory/Neuro Diagnostics unit at a teaching hospital
• 13-week contract assignment
• Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts (19:00-7:00)
• 36 or 48 hours per week
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Floating within scope of practice as needed
• Adult critical care and Emergency Department settings
• Manages ventilator support including BiPAP, CPAP, SIMV, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
• Performs airway management including intubation/extubation assist and suctioning
• Cares for patients with ARDS, aspiration, pneumonia, and fresh tracheostomy
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• RRT certification required
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification preferred
• ACCS certification preferred
• Minimum 4 years of experience required; candidates with 2+ years will be considered
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Trauma Level II experience required
• Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• BSN preferred
• Two professional references required
• VA state license required if applicable; pending license accepted provided candidate holds an active license in another state and can obtain a VA temporary license before start

Additional Information

• Provide respiratory care services including medication delivery, oxygen therapy, and ventilator management
• Perform chest physiotherapy, arterial blood gas draws and interpretation, and pulmonary hygiene procedures
• Participate in inter-departmental and ambulance patient transport
• Maximum 40 hours of RTO permitted per 13-week contract, all RTO must be disclosed prior to submission
• Any vacation time planned between sign date and start date must be disclosed prior to submission
• Up to 16 non-billable orientation hours for specialty-specific modules
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this role
• Previous UVA employees (permanent staff or travelers) must have at least 1 year of separation and leadership approval before returning
• External travelers may not exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility and are not eligible to return after reaching this limit
• No radius restriction applies to this position
