Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a 13-week night shift assignment at a teaching hospital, requiring 4+ years of experience and Trauma Level II experience.
Details
- Respiratory/Neuro Diagnostics unit at a teaching hospital
- 13-week contract assignment
- Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts (19:00-7:00)
- 36 or 48 hours per week
- Every other weekend and every other holiday required
- Floating within scope of practice as needed
- Adult critical care and Emergency Department settings
- Manages ventilator support including BiPAP, CPAP, SIMV, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
- Performs airway management including intubation/extubation assist and suctioning
- Cares for patients with ARDS, aspiration, pneumonia, and fresh tracheostomy
- Uses Epic EMR
Requirements
- RRT certification required
- BLS certification required
- ACLS certification preferred
- ACCS certification preferred
- Minimum 4 years of experience required; candidates with 2+ years will be considered
- Teaching hospital experience required
- Trauma Level II experience required
- Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Epic EMR experience required
- BSN preferred
- Two professional references required
- VA state license required if applicable; pending license accepted provided candidate holds an active license in another state and can obtain a VA temporary license before start
Additional Information
- Provide respiratory care services including medication delivery, oxygen therapy, and ventilator management
- Perform chest physiotherapy, arterial blood gas draws and interpretation, and pulmonary hygiene procedures
- Participate in inter-departmental and ambulance patient transport
- Maximum 40 hours of RTO permitted per 13-week contract, all RTO must be disclosed prior to submission
- Any vacation time planned between sign date and start date must be disclosed prior to submission
- Up to 16 non-billable orientation hours for specialty-specific modules
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this role
- Previous UVA employees (permanent staff or travelers) must have at least 1 year of separation and leadership approval before returning
- External travelers may not exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility and are not eligible to return after reaching this limit
- No radius restriction applies to this position
