Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist - RRT with 2+ years critical care experience and Trauma Level 2/3 background for a 13-week night shift assignment in an acute care hospital.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting within the Critical Care Respiratory Therapy department
- Trauma Level 2 facility
- Covers all adult inpatient units and the Emergency Department, including pediatric patients while in the ED
- Uses Cerner EMR (transitioning to Epic)
- 12-hour night shifts, 1830-0700
- 36 guaranteed hours per week
- Every third weekend and every other holiday required
- Occasional off-shift call needs from 1900-0400 on a voluntary basis, with a 1-hour call response time
- No floating required
- Uses ventilators including Servo U, Servo I, PB840, and Hamilton T1
- Uses BiPAP/CPAP equipment including V-60, V-30, and ResMed devices
- Uses Vapotherm high-flow therapy, INOmax Plus, oscillators, cough assist, and Volara devices
- Neonatologists and hospitalists in-house 24/7, with intensivists covering ICUs and hospitalists covering medical/surgical units
- Supported by an RT system director, RT manager, on-site supervisor, and a lead RT assigned each shift
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapy experience required
- Trauma Level 2 or 3 experience required
- Critical care experience required
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) via NBRC required
- Current BLS, ACLS, NRP, and PALS certifications required (AHA for BLS/ACLS)
- State of Wisconsin RT license required (license required if applicable; note that processing can take 6-8 weeks)
- Performs ABGs and CBGs in intensive care units
- Assists with intubation only; may place laryngeal airway (King airway) during code blue situations
- Occasionally provides EKG department coverage overnight as needed

- First-time travelers will be considered
- Travel duos accepted, though scheduling cannot be guaranteed
- Local candidates within 80 miles of the facility are accepted at a reduced rate
- Orientation includes an express session with leadership followed by 3-4 days of orientation on the floors
- Any color scrubs permitted; supportive footwear encouraged
- Manager and supervisor create a 6-week schedule with block scheduling used when possible
- Facility requires all clinicians to clock in and out on-site
- Candidates who previously worked at the facility must have an end date at least 6 months prior to consideration
