Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro Telemetry Stepdown position requiring NIHSS certification and prior travel experience.
Details
- Work in a busy stroke/neuro/trauma stepdown unit within a Trauma Level II hospital setting
- Care for patients with stroke, neurosurgery, trauma, general med/surg, and IMC/stepdown level needs
- Perform specialized procedures including lumbar drain care, NIHSS assessments, and stroke education
- Typical patient assignment is 1:4, potentially higher when additional resources are available
- Rotating 3x12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
- Every other weekend required
- Uses Epic charting system
Requirements
- Active WI or compact RN license required
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 1 year of recent RN experience required
- Prior experience in Telemetry, Neuro Stepdown, and PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown settings required
- Trauma Level II hospital experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
- Epic EMR experience required
- Must be clean-shaven to ensure proper mask seal for N95 fit testing
Additional Information
- Provide neuro-focused telemetry nursing care within a high-acuity stepdown environment
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Candidates residing within 70 miles of the facility are considered local and will not be accepted for this position
- Clinicians cannot work more than 1 year as a traveler without taking a 6-month break before returning
- PAPRs and CAPRs are not provided, and personal PAPR/CAPR use is not permitted; no medical or religious exemptions are granted for fit testing
- Failure to comply with fit testing shave requirement will result in cancellation
