Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring 2 years of L&D experience and Epic proficiency.
Details
- Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of a teaching hospital
- High volume facility with 200-300+ births per month
- Day shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, totaling 36 hours per week
- May be required to float to other units
- Uses Epic EMR system
Requirements
- Active RN license (Ohio state or Compact) required in hand at time of consideration
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NRP
- AWHONN Advanced certification required, or NCC C-EFM accepted in lieu
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Skilled in starting and maintaining IVs
- Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood and blood product administration, venous blood draws, and infusion pump use
- Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
- Two professional references required, with at least one from a Manager/Director or Supervisor and the second from a Charge RN or higher; coworker references not accepted
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive labor and delivery nursing care including antepartum, postpartum, and high-risk antepartum patients
- Support neonatal care in the delivery room including APGAR scoring and use of radiant warmers
- Assist with surgical cases including cesarean section circulation and recovery
- Provide postpartum care for patients with cesarean sections, multiple births, postpartum hemorrhage, and pregnancy-induced hypertension
- Manage pain including epidural anesthesia and general pain assessment
- Administer medications including Magnesium Sulfate therapy and Pitocin
- Perform fetal monitoring including external and internal fetal heart monitoring and IUPC placement and calibration
- Conduct antepartum care procedures including non-stress tests, sterile vaginal exams, and obstetrical triage
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this role, though previous travel experience is preferred
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
- Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more
- Current employees of Ohio State University hospital locations are ineligible to be hired as travelers
- Required time off (RTO) must be submitted and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
- Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting requirements promptly after signing contract, either in-person at an Ohio location or via mailed fingerprinting packet for those at extreme distances
