Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med Surg/Float Pool position requiring an active Iowa or compact RN license and a minimum of 36 months of progressive care, stepdown, or med surg experience.

Details

• Hospital-based Med Surg and Stepdown units with bed size varying by unit
• Cares for adult patients with all types of medical-surgical and stepdown conditions
• Patient ratios of 1:4/5 during days and evenings and 1:6 during nights
• Floats between Med Surg and Stepdown units as needed
• Uses EPIC EMR
• Works 4x12-hour afternoon shifts from 11a-11p, 48 hrs/week (36 hrs/week option available)
• Required to work every other weekend
• No on-call requirements
• Holiday rotation required

Requirements

• Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate RN license required
• Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC) required
• Current ACLS certification (AHA or ARC) required
• Minimum of 36 months of progressive care, stepdown, or med surg/medical surgical experience required
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Experience administering and titrating nitro, heparin, and amiodarone required
• Stepdown experience preferred
• Critical care experience is a plus
• Neurology care experience preferred
• Oncology care experience preferred
• Driver's license required for consideration
• Professional reference from a charge nurse, supervisor, nurse manager, director, CNO, or COO within the past 24 months preferred

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care across Med Surg and Stepdown units, floating between the two as needed based on patient census
• Scrub colors required are black or navy
• Must work 1-2 of the 3 upcoming summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day) unless the unit is closed
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are subject to a 10% reduction to the bill rate
• Past employees of the health system (FTE or PRN, including float pool) are not eligible to work travel assignments at any facility within the market; this restriction does not apply to prior travel contractors
