Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med Surg/Float Pool position requiring an active Iowa or compact RN license and a minimum of 36 months of progressive care, stepdown, or med surg experience.
Details
- Hospital-based Med Surg and Stepdown units with bed size varying by unit
- Cares for adult patients with all types of medical-surgical and stepdown conditions
- Patient ratios of 1:4/5 during days and evenings and 1:6 during nights
- Floats between Med Surg and Stepdown units as needed
- Uses EPIC EMR
- Works 4x12-hour afternoon shifts from 11a-11p, 48 hrs/week (36 hrs/week option available)
- Required to work every other weekend
- No on-call requirements
- Holiday rotation required
Requirements
- Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate RN license required
- Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC) required
- Current ACLS certification (AHA or ARC) required
- Minimum of 36 months of progressive care, stepdown, or med surg/medical surgical experience required
- EPIC EMR experience required
- Experience administering and titrating nitro, heparin, and amiodarone required
- Stepdown experience preferred
- Critical care experience is a plus
- Neurology care experience preferred
- Oncology care experience preferred
- Driver's license required for consideration
- Professional reference from a charge nurse, supervisor, nurse manager, director, CNO, or COO within the past 24 months preferred
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care across Med Surg and Stepdown units, floating between the two as needed based on patient census
- Scrub colors required are black or navy
- Must work 1-2 of the 3 upcoming summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day) unless the unit is closed
- Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are subject to a 10% reduction to the bill rate
- Past employees of the health system (FTE or PRN, including float pool) are not eligible to work travel assignments at any facility within the market; this restriction does not apply to prior travel contractors
