Description
American Traveler is hiring a Part-Time RN for a Labor & Delivery night shift position requiring a WI or compact RN license and NRP certification.
Details
- Hospital-based Labor and Delivery unit caring for maternal and newborn patients
- Cross-training and coverage of Med Surg/EICU patients when needed
- Part-time schedule of 2 shifts (12 hours each) per week
- Night shift hours from 1900-0730
- Weekend rotation required
Requirements
- Active WI or compact RN license required
- BLS certification required within 1 month of hire
- NRP certification required within 6 months of hire
- ALSO certification required within 1 year of hire
- STABLE certification required within 1 year of hire
- Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification required within 1 year of hire
- Two-year nursing degree required, four-year degree preferred
- No prior experience required
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy required
Additional Information
- Complete initial nursing histories, assessments, and individualized plans of care for L&D patients
- Triage patient care based on presenting symptoms
- Assess labor progression and manage induction and cervical ripening
- Manage medical emergencies including prolapsed cord, breech delivery, postpartum hemorrhage, precipitous delivery, uterine rupture, meconium management, abruptio placenta, and placenta previa
- Perform and interpret fetal heart monitoring
- Manage pregnancy-related conditions such as hypertension and diabetes
- Assess newborn condition and identify need for escalated care
- Perform neonatal resuscitation within scope of practice and certification
- Recognize and manage neonatal sepsis
- Monitor newborns for adverse events such as hypoglycemia, hypothermia, and jaundice
- Promote patient education and involvement in newborn care
- Communicate patient status changes promptly to the care team
