Description
American Traveler is hiring an Ultrasound Sonographer for an outpatient clinic setting, requiring ARDMS registration in abdomen, OB/GYN, and vascular technology (RVT).
Details
- Outpatient ultrasound clinic setting
- Day shift schedule with start times between 7-8:30 AM
- Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week, 8-hour shifts
- 13-week assignment
- Performs diagnostic ultrasound imaging for adult and pediatric patients
- Exams include Abdomen (including transplanted organs), OB/GYN, Small Parts, Vascular (grafts, incompetency exams, mapping), and Pediatric ultrasound
- Exposure to advanced procedures such as Shear Wave Elastography (SWE), Contrast Enhanced Ultrasound (CEUS), 3D imaging, and CT/PET/MRI fusion
- May involve in/outpatient, portable, OR, and PACU imaging
- Uses PACS for image storage/retrieval and EPIC for EHR charting
- On-call, overtime, weekends, overnights, and holiday shifts required per department needs
Requirements
- Associate's degree in a related field and graduate of a CAAHEP accredited sonography program required
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- ARDMS registration (or registry eligible) required in abdomen, OB/GYN, and vascular technology (RVT)
- Registry-eligible candidates must obtain ARDMS registration in abdomen within 6 months, OB/GYN within 12 months, and RVT within 18 months of employment
- BLS certification required (AHA or American Red Cross), or must be obtained within 90 days of employment
- License required if applicable
- Minimum 2 years of experience in an ultrasound setting required
- Strong communication skills for interactions with patients, physicians, and other medical professionals
- Ability to communicate preliminary findings to Radiologists and Residents
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and exercise critical thinking and judgment
- Must be able to stand, walk, and push equipment for extended periods
- Must be able to assist with lifting patients of varying weights using mechanical lifting devices
- Knowledge of isolation precaution techniques and personal protective equipment use required
- EPIC EMR experience required
Additional Information
- Knowledge of Non-Imaging Vascular (NIV), Musculoskeletal Ultrasound (MSK), Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) studies, Prostate Ultrasound, and CT/PET/MRI fusion is advantageous
- Responsibilities include confirming imaging orders, performing diagnostic exams, assisting radiologists with image acquisition and preliminary diagnosis, and preparing/injecting/documenting CEUS when indicated
- May assist physicians with lesion localization and probe placement during ablation procedures
- May create anatomical maps of lymph nodes/nodules for ENT surgical planning
- May participate in OR CEUS involving scrubbing in and guiding vascular surgeons
- May assist with fusion imaging by uploading and fusing CT/PET/MRI images with ultrasound
- May perform NIV diagnostic exams including ABIs, segmental pressures/PVRs, TcPO2s, ECG monitoring, Tonometry, and EndoPat testing
- May assist with IBD studies using grayscale, color, spectral Doppler, SWE, microvascular, and CEUS techniques
- May assist Prostate Seed team with marker seed placement and HDR/LDR treatments
- May perform MSK exams and procedures involving muscles, nerves, joints, and tendons
- Involved in transducer reprocessing using High Level Disinfectant
- Compliance with HIPAA, Joint Commission Standards, and Safe Patient Handling required
- May participate in training of new staff and department accreditation processes (ACR, IAC)
- Encouraged to participate in professional development activities such as conference presentations and committee involvement
- On-site work required with no teleworking option
- COVID vaccination and booster required for eligibility
