Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit position requiring post-operative open heart care experience and an active Ohio or Compact RN license.
Details
- Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) of a hospital setting
- Care for cardiac and pulmonary patients, including post-operative open heart cases
- Day shift schedule with 12-hour shifts
- Required to work every other weekend
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating required to all units within skill level
Requirements
- Active RN license (Ohio or Compact) currently in hand and verifiable via Nursys
- Current certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Post-operative open heart care experience required
- Critical care experience highly preferred
- Chest tube and other drain management experience required
- Pre- and post-procedure care experience for patients with radial and femoral access required
- Proficiency in cardiac monitoring, including reading and interpreting cardiac rhythm strips and responding to rhythm changes
- Advanced knowledge of cardiac and pulmonary abnormalities required
- Experience assisting with chest tube removal, pericardial pacing wire removal, and management of temporary pacers (pericardial and transcutaneous) required
- Experience with non-invasive ventilation (NIV) devices, high-flow oxygen, and other oxygen delivery systems required
- Skills checklist current within 1 year pertinent to PCU specialty required for consideration
Additional Information
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care using age-specific criteria
- Assist in planning, directing, and teaching non-RN staff such as LPNs, PCTs, and Unit Secretaries
- Candidates residing within a 45-mile radius of the facility are considered local travelers, which affects travel pay rate eligibility
- No more than 5 days of requested time off (RTO) are permitted
- First-time travelers may be considered for this position
