Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist for a Level 2 trauma acute care facility, requiring 2+ years of RT and critical care experience.

Details

• Critical Care Respiratory Therapy department in an acute care, Level 2 trauma facility
• Covers all adult inpatient units and the Emergency Department, including pediatric patients while in the ED
• Performs ABGs and CBGs in intensive care units
• Assists with EKG department coverage overnight and as needed
• Assists with intubation only and may place laryngeal airway (King airway) during code blue situations
• Neonatologists and hospitalists in-house 24/7, with intensivists covering ICUs 24/7
• Supported by an RT system director, RT manager, on-site supervisor, and a lead RT assigned each shift
• Uses ventilators including Servo U, Servo I, PB840 (transitioning to Servo U), and Hamilton T1
• Uses BiPAP/CPAP equipment including V-60, V-30, and Resmed devices
• Uses Vapotherm for high-flow therapy, along with INOmax Plus, oscillators, cough assist, and Volara devices
• Cerner EMR, transitioning to Epic
• 12-hour shifts, Days 0630-1900
• Every third weekend required
• Every other holiday required
• No mandatory call, though occasional off-shift call needs may arise from 1900-0400 on a volunteer basis with a 1-hour response time
• No floating requirements
• Scheduling completed via a 6-week block schedule when possible

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapy experience required
• Critical care experience required
• Level 2 or 3 trauma experience required
• Current RRT certification via NBRC
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications (AHA)
• State of WI RT license required if applicable
• Cerner EMR experience preferred
• First-time travelers accepted
• Travel duos accepted, though scheduling cannot be guaranteed

Additional Information

• Department-specific orientation includes leadership orientation followed by 3-4 days of orientation on the floors
• Any color scrubs permitted; supportive footwear encouraged
• Candidates must clock in and out at the facility
• Clinicians who previously worked at this facility must have an end date at least 6 months prior to submission
• Candidates residing within 80 miles of the facility are considered local
