Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Operating Room position requiring 24 months of current OR experience and an active Iowa or compact RN license.
Details
- Level I trauma center operating room setting with 16 suites, typically running 12-14 rooms daily
- 1:1 patient ratio with an average caseload of 35-50 cases per day and turnover expectations under 20 minutes
- 16-bed unit supporting service lines including cardiac/PV, neuro, ortho trauma, robotics, gyn, uro, general, pediatrics, and transplants, with lower volumes of ENT and plastics
- Utilizes 3 DaVinci robots, Stealth technology for neuro navigation, and Synthes/Stryker equipment for ortho trauma
- EPIC EMR experience required within the previous 3 years
- 4x10 schedule, Monday-Friday, days with a 6:30 AM start time and rotating day off, 40 hours/week
- Call requirements include one overnight per week and three weekends per 13-week contract, with weekend call running from end of shift Friday until 6:30 AM Monday
- Holiday rotation required
- Float requirement across multiple campuses including Iowa Methodist MC, Iowa Lutheran, and Iowa Methodist
- Scrubs provided
Requirements
- Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license required
- BLS certification (AHA or ARC) required
- 24 months of current operating room experience required, with hospital/medical center experience prioritized
- Circulating experience required, scrub experience highly preferred
- Required case experience in General, DaVinci Robotics, Pediatrics, and Trauma
- Highly preferred experience in Neurology, Orthopedics (trauma), Gynecology, Urology, Transplants, Plastics, ENT, and Vascular cases
- EPIC EMR experience within the previous 3 years required
- Trauma Level II experience required, Trauma Level I experience highly preferred
- Must have completed a travel assignment within the previous 15 months
- Driver's license required for consideration
- Professional reference from a supervisor, charge nurse, nurse manager, director, CNO, or COO within the past 24 months preferred
Additional Information
- Both scrub and circulating responsibilities preferred for this role
- Holiday coverage required for 1-2 of the 3 upcoming Summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day) unless the unit is closed
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- Candidates who were previously employed by the health system as FTE or PRN float pool staff are ineligible to work travel assignments at any facility within the market
- Local radius rules apply and vary by facility; a 50-mile radius results in a bill rate reduction
