Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiac Progressive Step-Down Unit position requiring telemetry experience and EKG interpretation skills.

Details

• Work in a 25-bed Cardiac Telemetry Unit on the third floor of a hospital's main building
• Patient ratio of 4:1
• Uses EKG machines, Hoyer lifts, and LifePak equipment
• Meditech EMR system used for charting
• Night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Low probability of floating to Med Surg
• Weekend rotation required: every third Friday and Saturday night, plus one additional Friday or Saturday night each schedule
• Additional coverage needed for Halloween, the Friday after Thanksgiving, and Christmas night

Requirements

• Active RN license (VA or Compact) currently in hand
• Current certifications: BLS and ACLS
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Telemetry experience and EKG reading skills required
• Ability to manage a fast-paced unit with frequent admissions, discharges, transfers, and procedures
• US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration (no Canadian SSN accepted)
• No employment gaps of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

• Set priorities and modify patient care in response to changing conditions using strong problem-solving skills and clinical judgment
• Make timely notifications to physicians regarding changes in patient condition
• Most cardiac procedures are performed in the Cath Lab rather than on this unit
• Peritoneal dialysis and EKGs are among the typical procedures performed on the unit
• Team-oriented and positive personality is a strong fit for this unit
• Navy scrubs required as part of the dress code
• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; no local candidates will be considered
