Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PACU position at a Level 1 trauma center, requiring 2 years of experience and an active IN or compact RN license.
Details
- Work in the PACU (Phase I) of a Level 1 trauma center, open and staffed 24/7
- Receive patients from all surgical specialties except open heart, including Neuro, Ortho, PV, Thoracic, Urology, Gyn, Plastics, and Peds
- Average daily census of 65-85 patients
- Day shift schedule of 4x12 hours, 11:00 AM to 11:30 PM
- Call requirement of approximately 12-24 hours in a 6-week schedule
- Must work or take call on any holiday occurring during the contract, with 1 holiday shift required per 6-week block
- Cerner charting system used, experience required
- Floating required to other units within the hospital or nearby affiliate hospitals
Requirements
- Active RN license (IN or Compact) in hand prior to start date
- Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and PALS (preferred)
- Minimum 2 years of PACU experience required
- Level 1 Trauma Center experience required
- ICU/PCU experience preferred
- Cerner charting experience required
- Experience caring for intubated and ventilated patients
- Experience with pediatric patients and all major surgical specialties (Neuro, Ortho, Vascular, Thoracic, Urology, Gyn, Plastics)
- Must be comfortable working in a large, fast-paced, high-acuity facility
- Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
- 2 supervisor references required
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide post-anesthesia recovery care to a high-acuity patient population, including many critical care and neuro patients
- Facility offers charge pay
- Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays during the contract
- Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO can be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Former permanent or PRN employees of the health system must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler
- Travelers who have accrued 12 months of travel employment within the health system must take a designated break to reset eligibility: 3 months for out-of-state residents or 6 months for in-state residents
- Local candidates residing in Indiana are accepted for this position at a lower pay package
