Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift assignment requiring at least 1 year of experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

• General Medical Surgical unit setting
• Adult to geriatric patient population
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:00)
• Uses Epic, Pyxis, and SBAR charting/communication systems
• Every other weekend rotation required
• Floating required within facility and scope of practice as needed
• Navy blue scrubs required

Requirements

• Active GA or Compact RN license required
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg nursing experience required
• BLS certification required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration
• Skilled in central line blood draws and peripheral line care/management
• Experience starting and maintaining IVs
• Respiratory care skills including chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac), nasal cannula, oral suctioning, and oxygen administration
• Genitourinary/renal care experience including continuous bladder irrigation and renal failure management preferred
• Experience administering Heparin and PCA medications
• Knowledge of isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac management
• Experience with cardiac monitoring and use of rapid response/code teams
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• First-time travelers accepted

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to adult and geriatric Med/Surg patients
• Respond to emergent situations using rapid response and code team protocols
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, which must be finalized prior to submission
• No RTO requests permitted during orientation week
• Holiday coverage required based on number of major holidays falling within the assignment period (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, and New Year's Eve/Day)
• If one or two major holidays fall during the assignment, no holiday RTO can be requested
• If three major holidays fall during the assignment, one holiday RTO request may be considered
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• Must complete compliance onboarding requirements within 48 hours of contract signing to avoid start date delays
• Prior employees or travelers must be away from all Piedmont facilities for one full year before returning as a traveler
