Description
American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg RN for a 14-week assignment requiring at least 1 year of experience and a GA or Compact RN license.
Details
- Medical Surgical unit with remote telemetry monitoring and potential medical surgical diagnoses
- 38-bed unit with an average daily census of 33
- Patient population ranges from adolescents to geriatrics
- Patient ratio of 1:6
- Day shift, 3x12 hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
- Every other weekend required unless otherwise specified
- Floating required within facility and scope of practice as needed
- No on-call requirements
- Uses Epic EMR (required), Pyxis, and SBAR communication method
Requirements
- Active GA or Compact RN license required
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- 1:6 patient ratio experience required
- Epic charting experience required
- Skilled in cardiac monitoring and emergency response
- Experience with Rapid Response/Code teams
- Proficient in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line care/management
- Skilled in respiratory care including nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, and oxygen administration
- Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE use
- First-time travelers accepted
Additional Information
- Provide medical-surgical nursing care to a diverse patient population including cardiac monitoring and respiratory support
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, with all RTO finalized at time of submission
- RTO blackout dates include Spring Break (April 4th-12th)
- Holiday coverage required based on number of major holidays falling within the assignment period (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year's Eve/Day)
- If 1-2 major holidays fall during the assignment, no holiday RTO can be requested
- If 3 major holidays fall during the assignment, one holiday RTO request may be considered
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate
- Previous Piedmont employees (perm, per diem, or FCSS) must be away from all Piedmont facilities for 1 full year before applying as a traveler
- Returning travelers who were cancelled or received a DNR must complete one assignment outside Piedmont before reapplying
