Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry unit requiring prior travel nursing experience and continuous IV drip management skills.
Details
- Work in the Cardiac Telemetry/Overflow IMCU unit of a hospital setting
- Adult to geriatric patient population with a 1:5-6 ratio on a 32-bed unit
- Care for patients with arrhythmias, CHF, chest pain, COPD, pulmonary edema, PE, DVT, and stable A-Fib/SVT/Bradycardia
- Occasional overflow surgical patients (cholecystectomy, appendectomy, chest tubes, biliary drains) as well as vascular, post cardiac cath, ortho, and CVA patients
- Manage TR Bands and utilize basic Med Surg and arrhythmia knowledge
- Manages continuous IV cardiac drips (Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Milrinone, Nitroglycerin), diuretics (Bumex, Lasix), anticoagulants (Aggrastat, Argatroban, Heparin), and insulin drips
- Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- Uses Epic (preferred), Pyxis, and SBAR communication
- Weekend rotation typically every other weekend, with travelers filling gaps after core staff scheduling
- Floating required within the facility and scope of practice as needed
- On-call is rare with a 2-hour response time; travelers are not assigned Precedex management
- Navy blue scrubs required
Requirements
- Active RN license (GA state or Compact) required
- Current certifications: BLS and ACLS required; NIHSS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Experience managing continuous IV cardiac and vasoactive drips required (titration not required)
- Experience with insulin drip titration preferred
- Skills in IV therapy, central/peripheral line care, and PICC line management preferred
- Experience with BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and nasal cannula management preferred
- Feeding tube care and management experience preferred
- Epic charting experience preferred
- Two supervisory references (Manager or above) required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care including arrhythmia interpretation, management, and use of rapid response/code teams
- Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, and all RTO must be finalized prior to consideration
- Holiday coverage required: one holiday worked if one or two major holidays fall during the assignment, or two holidays worked if three major holidays fall during the assignment
- Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, and New Year's Eve/Day
- Full compliance required to start on time; non-compliance may result in a two-week delay due to bi-weekly orientation scheduling
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate
- Previous Piedmont employees (perm/per diem/FCSS) must be away from all Piedmont facilities for one full year before applying as a traveler
- Travelers who cancelled or received a facility DNR must complete one successful assignment outside Piedmont before reapplying
- The posted shift and contract length are firm with no alternate schedule requests permitted
- Travel pairs cannot be assigned to the same shift on the same unit
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
