Description
American Traveler is hiring a Stepdown RN for a Cardiovascular Unit (CVU) requiring active MI RN license and at least 1 year of stepdown/cardiac experience.
Details
- Work in a Cardiovascular Unit (CVU) caring for over 4000 cardiology patients annually
- Unit specializes in procedures including PTCA, stents, TAVR, MitraClip, and bi-ventricular pacemakers
- Cares for post-open heart surgery patients (18-24 hours post-op) prior to discharge
- Specializes in congestive heart failure and electrophysiology study patients
- Night shift schedule, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, 12-hour shifts
- Required to work every other weekend
- Possible on-call requirements
- Floating to similar units required
Requirements
- Active RN license in Michigan (MI) required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 1 year of Stepdown experience required
- Proficiency in cardiac care required
- Comfortability with EKG required
- Skills checklist completed within one year of application required
- No more than 5 days of RTO may be requested

- Serve as a critical member of the CVU care team, applying clinical judgment to diagnose and treat patient responses to cardiovascular conditions
- CVU has earned a Silver level Beacon Award and was redesigned by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN)
- Facility recognized as a Top 50 Heart Hospital in the U.S.
- Unit supports national clinical trials through affiliated research department
- Facility maintains a strict attendance policy allowing termination after three absences or late arrivals of 20+ minutes, with exceptions considered for documented illness or hospitalization
- Former full-time employees of the health system are not eligible for contract hire within six months of their employment end date
