Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Outpatient Oncology position requiring current oncology nursing experience and SD or compact RN licensure.
Details
- Outpatient oncology clinic setting
- Unit specializes in Medical Oncology/Hematology, including pre- and post-transplant BMT patients
- Patient population is 18+ years old
- Sees approximately 15-25 patients per day with CA support
- Uses Epic Ambulatory charting system
- Schedule consists of 4x10-hour day shifts, 0700-1730, with day off based on clinic needs
- No weekends, no call, and no major holidays required
- Minor holiday coverage required when clinic is open
- Routine floating to work with different physicians within Medical Oncology
- Possible but unlikely floating to other clinics outside Medical Oncology
- Support on unit includes department leadership, CA, charge nurse, team lead, and onsite lab
- Chemo nurses handle port access and blood draws
- Physician team includes 7 Medical Oncologists, each typically supported by an ARNP
Requirements
- Active RN license (SD or Compact) required
- BLS certification required
- ONS certification required
- OCN certification preferred
- Minimum 1.5 years of nursing experience, including at least 1 year of current oncology experience
- Clinic experience required
- Epic Ambulatory experience required
- Experience as first assist and chaperoning providers during clinic exams and procedures
- Completion of a board-approved nursing education program
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include rooming patients, taking vital signs, review of systems, medication reconciliation, and weighing patients
- Obtain orders and process patients for infusions, communicating clearance status
- Perform chart checks, set up for procedures, and review referrals
- Departmental orientation typically lasts 5 days, subject to change based on skillset and comfort level
- Navy blue scrubs required for nursing staff
- Free parking available
- First-time travelers will not be considered; candidates must have completed at least one 13-week travel assignment
- Candidates must live more than 100 miles from the facility
- Former permanent staff must wait 1 full year before returning as a traveler
- Time off requests of up to 7 days (excluding holidays) may be approved if the traveler is willing to extend the contract accordingly

High cost of living!!  Currently with TNAA would not increase stipends  although the stipends changed for three months that I’m to higher than the other 9 months.  Don’t use TNAA.  Management at the facility is poor.
