Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Operating Room position requiring 2-3 years of specialty and travel experience along with robotics and multi-specialty proficiency.

- OR suite with 9 operating rooms, 1 procedure room, and 1 hybrid room in an acute care hospital setting
- ,

- high volume of 35-45 cases per day
- Handles a wide range of surgical cases including general, ENT, ortho (spine, joints, ORIF, scopes), vascular, trauma, peds, and emergent cases
- Excludes CVOR and L&D/C-section cases
- Uses EPIC as the charting system
- 12-hour evening shift schedule, primarily 11A-11:30P
- Weeknight on-call rotation (7P-7A) and one weekend 24-hour on-call rotation per month (7A-7P)
- Holiday on-call rotation as needed
- Call response time requirement of 30 minutes
- Floating to outpatient surgery as needed
- Participates in charge nurse rotation
- Robotics cases utilizing DaVinci and Rosa systems
Requirements
- Active RN license (WV or Compact) required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required (PALS preferred)
- 2-3 years of OR specialty experience required
- 2-3 previous travel assignments required
- Orthopedic surgery experience required
- Experience with robotics cases, including passing arms in and out, required
- EPIC EMR experience required
- Must have experience across all surgical specialties for evening/night shift coverage
- Must be comfortable functioning as the only RN with two techs during overnight shifts

- OR staff is comprised almost entirely of travelers
- No aides or housekeeping support; OR techs are responsible for room turnover
- Scrubs are provided for RNs and OR techs
- Unit-specific orientation consists of 3 shifts over 1 week
- Scrubbing responsibilities are a plus but not required for RNs
- Charge nurse/house supervisor coverage runs 7A-7P, with travelers rotating through charge duties
- Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius from the facility to be eligible
- Former travelers who completed a full year at this facility must wait 2 years before returning
- Former permanent staff must wait 2 years before returning as travelers
- Willing to teach or support a service line for candidates with limited specialty experience on the 7A-3:30P shift
