Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardio Thoracic Telemetry night shift position requiring EKG interpretation and drip titration skills.

Details

• Work in the Cardio Thoracic Unit, a 70-bed telemetry unit in an acute care hospital setting
• Care for patients with MI, CHF, A fib, COPD, pacemaker/AICD placement, various lung surgeries, esophagectomy, and general medical overflow
• Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:5-6 on nights
• PCT support available at approximately 1:10-12 on nights
• Titrate drips including Cardizem and heparin
• 24/7 charge nurse and house supervisor coverage on the unit
• Dedicated tele/monitor techs on staff, though RNs must be able to read and interpret Philips telemetry strips
• Assist with CPAP/BiPAP as part of home regimen and heated high flow in special circumstances
• 12-hour night shifts, 1900-0730
• Weekend rotation required every other Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday
• Holiday rotation required, including Memorial Day Eve, July 3rd, Labor Day Eve, Thanksgiving Eve, Christmas Eve, and New Year's Eve
• No call or standby requirements at this time
• Float to other general medical units as needed
• Uses EPIC EMR

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required, or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• BLS (AHA) certification required; ACLS recommended
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• EKG interpretation skills required
• Medication titration experience required
• Must be able to perform all basic nursing skills
• Must pass a negative drug screen for all panels as OSF is a Drug-Free Campus

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for cardiothoracic and telemetry patients, including monitoring, medication administration, and drip titration
• Unit/department-specific orientation is typically one shift or part of one, depending on prior OSF facility experience
• Non-billable orientation totals 12 hours
• Scrubs may be any color, but children's or cartoon prints are not permitted as this is an adult unit
• Local candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility are eligible for a local rate
• No radius rule restricting eligibility for this position
• COVID vaccination is not required for consideration
