Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department night shift position requiring 2 years of ER experience and an active SC or compact RN license.

Details

• Work in the Emergency Department of a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma Center and major teaching hospital
• Combined general adult/pediatric ED patient population
• Facility is STEMI and Stroke certified
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:00
• Uses Meditech EMR
• High patient-to-caregiver ratios with frequent floating within the hospital
• Floating occurs in rotation with staff according to clinical experience and hospital policy
• Expected to work some holidays and weekends in rotation with staff

Requirements

• Active SC or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of ER nursing experience required
• Prior charge nurse experience preferred
• Current certifications required: BLS and ACLS; CPI, NIHSS, and PALS may also be required
• TNCC certification preferred
• Meditech charting experience preferred but not required
• IV start skills required
• Experience with pediatric and adult emergency conditions including abdominal pain, asthma, burns, head injury, seizures, and psychiatric emergencies
• Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and management of dysrhythmias required
• Ability to perform triage and apply isolation precautions/PPE

Additional Information

• Provide emergency nursing care across a broad range of adult and pediatric conditions, including trauma, cardiac, neurological, respiratory, and psychiatric emergencies
• Perform skills such as 12-lead EKG acquisition, splint application, and management of shock/trauma cases including gunshot wounds and traumatic amputations
• Royal blue/white scrub color required
• Free parking available in any unrestricted space
• Must reside within a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for this position
• Local candidates within the radius are not accepted for this assignment
• RTO must be approved prior to assignment start, with minimal to no time off expected, especially during the first few weeks
• Previous employees must have been gone for at least 1 year and in good standing at time of departure to be eligible for rehire
