Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced OR RN for a 13-week evening shift assignment at a Level I Trauma Center requiring independent circulating skills and call availability.
Details
- Operating Room unit within an acute care hospital setting
- Level I Trauma Center with 24/7 poly trauma response
- 33 total OR suites across two units handling an average of 80-120 cases per day
- Case types include major ortho, joints, spines, sports medicine, trauma, neuro cranies and spines, surgical onc, urology, GYN, bariatric, ENT head and neck reconstruction, and ophthalmology procedures
- Uses EPIC OP-Time EMR
- Evening shift schedule with a mix of 8-hour and 12-hour shifts
- 12-hour shifts run 9a-9:30p or 10:30a-11p; 8-hour shifts start at 9a, 10:30a, or 2:30p
- Weekend shifts scheduled in 12-hour blocks from 6:30a-7p or 10:30a-11p
- Occasional weekend and holiday coverage required
- Requires 20-30 hours of standby call within a 4-week period with a 30-minute call response time
- Floating limited to between the two OR units based on experience
- Scrubbing not required for RN role
Requirements
- Active WV or Compact RN license required
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- BSN not required
- Must be able to circulate independently in the OR
- Must be able to take call as required
- EPIC EMR experience beneficial
Additional Information
- Provide independent circulating RN support across multiple surgical service lines
- Unit staffed with a 24/7 Charge Nurse; travelers are not placed in charge roles
- OR Techs are utilized on the unit, though this role is specifically for RNs
- Unit-specific orientation provided across both OR locations, totaling 2-3 shifts including EPIC training
- Scrubs are provided by the facility
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility to qualify for travel status
- Candidates cannot have worked as permanent staff or travelers at any WVU Medicine location within the past 2 years
- Cumulative traveler assignments within the WVU system cannot exceed 1 year before requiring a 2-year break
- First-time travelers may be considered for this position
