Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Operating Room position at a Level I Trauma Center, requiring 2 years of OR experience and the ability to circulate independently.
Details
- OR Suites across 5 North (23 suites) and 2 West (10 suites), with 2 West primarily handling outpatient cases
- High-volume unit averaging 80-120 cases per day
- Level I Trauma Center providing 24/7 poly trauma response
- Common service lines include Ortho (joints, spines, sports med, trauma), Neuro (cranies and spines), Surgical Onc, Urology, GYN, Bariatrics, ENT (head and neck free flaps, reconstruction), and Ophthalmology
- Uses EPIC OP-Time EMR
- Day shift schedule with a mix of 8-hour (6:30a-3p) and 12-hour (6:30a-7p) shifts
- 1.0 FTE position scheduled as 5x8-hour shifts
- Some weekend shifts required, scheduled in 12-hour blocks (6:30a-7p or 10:30a-11p)
- On-call responsibilities required, including 20-30 hours of standby call within a 4-week period with a 30-minute call response time
- Floating limited to between 5N and 2W units based on experience
- Scrubs are provided by the facility
Requirements
- Active WV or Compact RN license required
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of OR nursing experience required
- Must be able to circulate independently in the OR
- Must be willing and able to take call as required
- Unexpired driver's license required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide circulating RN support across a high-acuity, high-volume Level I Trauma Center OR
- Scrubbing is not required for this RN role
- OR Techs are utilized on the unit, though this position is specifically for RN needs
- A Charge Nurse is on-site 24/7; travelers will not be placed in this role
- Unit-specific orientation includes 2-3 shifts covering both 5N and 2W, including EPIC training
- Basic OR equipment used includes Bovie machines, forced air warmers, Neptune suction, drill consoles, Xi Robotics, Ligasure, and Argon Beam
- Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility to be eligible as a traveler
- Previous permanent employees must have a 2-year break before reapplying
- Previous travelers who completed a full year must take a 2-year break before returning
- Travelers are limited to a maximum of 1 year of cumulative work within the WVU system before requiring a 2-year break
