Description
American Traveler is hiring an RN for an Intermediate Intensive Care Unit (IICU) night shift position requiring at least 2 years of RN experience and prior ICU/IICU experience at a 1:3 acuity ratio.
Details
- Work in the Intermediate Intensive Care Unit (IMC/IICU) of a regional community teaching medical center
- Care for adult trauma, medical, surgical, and neurology patients requiring monitoring or interventions every 1-2 hours
- Unit receives direct admissions, ICU transfers, and Rapid Response Team escalations
- Patient ratio of 1:3
- Special equipment available includes Hercules patient re-positioners, ceiling lifts, and Airtaps
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:30
- Requires 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period
- Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's)
- Facility may call off up to 1 shift per 2 weeks
- Float to other units or campuses as needed, limited to areas of demonstrated competency
- Progressive care settings such as PCU, DOU, IMC, or Stepdown may be considered based on unit acuity
- Uses EPIC EMR
Requirements
- Active RN license (SC or Compact) currently in hand
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- At least 1 completed travel assignment required
- Previous ICU/IICU experience with acuity of at least 1:3 required
- First-time travelers considered with 3+ years of experience within specialty and critical care experience required
- Minimum 1 year of EPIC EMR experience required
- Proficiency in cardiac monitoring and emergency response, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and telemetry monitoring
- Experience with titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips required
- Ventilator experience required

- Provide direct patient care in a Level I Adult and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center, the only one of its kind in the Midlands region
- Facility is Magnet-recognized for nursing excellence and features advanced specialty programs in cardiac care, stroke, and vascular services
- 641 licensed beds
- Complete pre-assignment testing and compliance modules within 48 hours of receiving login credentials
- Orientation held every Monday, along with annual compliance requirements
- RTO and special scheduling requests must be submitted at time of application and are subject to facility approval at booking
- First-time travelers will be considered with required specialty and critical care experience
- Local candidates accepted; radius requirements apply for eligibility and travel pay rate
- Night shift travelers in this specialty must reside 50+ miles from the contracted campus for eligibility, with full pay at 100+ miles
