Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) night shift position requiring at least 1 year of experience and GA or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Hospital-based Neuro/Stroke PCU floor caring for respiratory, cardiac, and mixed medical patients
• Patient population ranges from adolescents to geriatrics
• 36-bed unit with an average daily census of 30 and a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Requires titrating cardiac drips with continuous telemetry monitoring
• Uses Epic, Pyxis, and SBAR communication systems
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:30
• Every other weekend required unless otherwise specified
• Floating required within facility and scope of practice as needed
• No on-call requirements
• No block scheduling permitted

Requirements

• Active GA or Compact RN license required
• Minimum 1 year of recent nursing experience required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, HFNC, and tracheostomy management
• Experience with IV therapy, central/peripheral line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration
• Experience managing cardiac drips, dysrhythmia interpretation, and insulin drip titration
• Experience with isolation precautions and PPE use
• First-time travelers are accepted for this role

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to Neuro/Stroke PCU patients including CVA, pre/post neurosurgery, and traumatic brain injury cases
• Monitor and manage cardiac dysrhythmias and respond using Rapid Response/Code teams as needed
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, with no time off allowed during orientation week
• RTO is not permitted during Spring Break blackout dates (April 4th-12th)
• Holiday coverage required based on number of major holidays falling within the assignment period (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, New Year's Eve/New Year's Day)
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• Previous perm, per diem, or contract staff must be away from all facilities within the health system for one full year before returning as a traveler
• Compliance items must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing to maintain the assigned start date
