Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with 3+ years of experience for a Level II trauma acute care hospital position covering ICU, ED, and other units.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting at a Level II trauma center with 3 ICUs
- Covers Adult Critical Care, Emergency Department, Med-Surg, and NICU (if experienced)
- Department typically staffed with 7-10 RTs depending on census
- Day shift schedule, 3x12 hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- 13-week assignment length
- Floating may be requested based on facility needs
- Uses Epic EMR
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience required
- Specialty experience required within the last year
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association (AHA)
- RRT and CRT certifications required
- PALS certification through AHA preferred
- NRP certification preferred for candidates with NICU experience
- Level I and Level II trauma experience preferred
- Epic EMR experience required
- License required if applicable
- Virginia license required in hand at time of consideration or proof of compact license
- Experience with ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
- Skilled in airway management including extubation, suctioning, and tracheostomy care
- Proficient in interpretation of Arterial Blood Gases (ABGs)
- Experience with oxygen therapy including High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) and trach collar
- One supervisory reference required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide respiratory care to critically ill patients across multiple units including ICU and ED
- Administer medications including Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, and other respiratory treatments
- Perform bronchoscopy care and nitric oxide (iNO) therapy when applicable
- Collect sputum specimens and manage airway devices
- Local candidates accepted at the same base rate
- Candidates must keep requested time off to a minimum, with no more than 7 days total during the assignment
- All time off requests must be submitted with initial application and confirmed prior to assignment start
- No additional time off requests approved after an offer is extended
- Prior perm employees must have a 6-month gap before being eligible for travel assignments at this facility
- Candidates cannot work travel and per diem contracts simultaneously at this facility system
