Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift position requiring 1 year of experience and comfort working with a prison population.

Details

• >Medical Surgical unit within a hospital setting
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:00
• 16-week assignment length
• Float required to other Med/Surg and Telemetry units, including forensics and inpatient units
• No on-call requirements

Requirements

• Active TN state RN license or compact multi-state license required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and CPI (MAB accepted in lieu of CPI)
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg nursing experience required
• Must be comfortable working with a prison/forensic patient population
• Skills in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, wound care/wound vac, PCA, and tracheostomy care preferred
• Experience with oncology, IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, and peripheral line care preferred

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care within a Medical Surgical unit, floating to Telemetry, forensics, and other inpatient units as needed
• Facility enforces a strict no-call policy
• Holiday coverage required for 3 of the following 6 holidays based on assigned holiday group: Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
• Schedule swaps with peers may be arranged to accommodate personal holiday preferences
• Contracts starting in September should extend into the new year to ensure holiday coverage
• Local candidates and first-time travelers are accepted at the same rate
