Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level 3 Trauma Center requiring 2+ years of ED experience and WA or compact RN licensure.

Details

  • .Works in the Emergency Services department of a 123-bed Level 3 Trauma Center in Spokane Valley, WA
  • Unit consists of 21 beds, 8 hallway beds, 5 fast track beds, and 4-12 outpatient overflow beds
  • Treats a patient population including geriatric, abdominal pain, chest pain, stroke, psych, respiratory, and pediatric cases (approximately 15% pediatric)
  • Patient ratio is 1:4, organized in pods of 8 patients staffed by 3 nurses
  • Utilizes Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing system
  • Bedside and nurse's station telemetry monitoring available
  • 12-hour night shift schedule with an every-other-weekend rotation
  • No floating required
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Assignment length of 18 weeks

Requirements

  • Active WA or compact RN license required
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, CPI or MOAB, and NIHSS
  • Minimum 2 years of ED experience required, with 5 years in specialty preferred
  • Skills required include TNK administration, conscious sedation, chest tube management, and central line care
  • Epic EMR experience required

Additional Information

  • Provide emergency care across a diverse patient population including trauma, cardiac, stroke, psych, and pediatric cases
  • Supported by a strong care team including 24/7 charge nurse, receptionist/HUC, respiratory therapy, and hospitalist coverage
  • ER techs are phlebotomy certified and 24/7 lab support is available
  • Many ER nurses are trained in ultrasound-guided IVs, and a dedicated IV/VAT team is available Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm
  • Department and critical care float support available as needed, though no dedicated resource nurse
  • Orientation includes a one-week program covering NEO, Epic training, skills check-offs, and 2-3 precepted shifts
  • MHS Tele Test required prior to arrival
  • Scrubs may be any professional color
  • Free parking provided
  • 1 holiday coverage required per contract
  • Up to 7 days of RTO can be approved
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Works within a collaborative team environment focused on delivering an excellent patient experience
