Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiac ICU position requiring recent fresh open heart and mixed ICU patient experience with a CA RN license.
Details
- Work in a 30-bed Cardiac ICU within an acute care hospital with a Level 2 trauma designation
- 1:1 to 1:2 patient ratios, with approximately 90% of assignments at a 1:2 ratio
- 12-hour night shifts with an every-other-weekend requirement
- Uses Cerner EMR and GE telemetry monitors
- Charge nurse does not carry a patient assignment
- Ventilator management required as part of patient care
- Hospitalist coverage in house 24/7, along with 24/7 Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy support
- No dedicated IV team or nurse aides on the unit
- Self-scheduling available, with schedules built approximately 6 weeks in advance and finalized by the manager
- Travelers are prioritized for floating to any telemetry or medsurg unit
- One day of unit-specific orientation provided
- Navy scrubs required
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required, active at time of submission with no pending licenses accepted
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Required certifications: BLS and ACLS, with NIHSS also required and PALS preferred
- Recent experience with fresh open heart patients required
- Experience with mixed ICU patient populations required
- BSN not required for this position
- Must pass a proctored Dysrhythmia test onsite on day one (Pass/Fail)
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide critical care nursing to cardiac ICU patients, including those with fresh open heart procedures and mixed ICU diagnoses
- Facility can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment (3 shifts for shorter assignments)
- Holiday coverage is not currently required but may be requested

The cafeteria is a hit and miss. Some days they have great sea food with saffron rice! Some days microwaved food :D. But there is alwaaaaays, pizza available ;)
