Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiac ICU position requiring recent fresh open heart and mixed ICU patient experience with a CA RN license.

Details

• Work in a 30-bed Cardiac ICU within an acute care hospital with a Level 2 trauma designation
• 1:1 to 1:2 patient ratios, with approximately 90% of assignments at a 1:2 ratio
• 12-hour night shifts with an every-other-weekend requirement
• Uses Cerner EMR and GE telemetry monitors
• Charge nurse does not carry a patient assignment
• Ventilator management required as part of patient care
• Hospitalist coverage in house 24/7, along with 24/7 Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy support
• No dedicated IV team or nurse aides on the unit
• Self-scheduling available, with schedules built approximately 6 weeks in advance and finalized by the manager
• Travelers are prioritized for floating to any telemetry or medsurg unit
• One day of unit-specific orientation provided
• Navy scrubs required

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required, active at time of submission with no pending licenses accepted
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Required certifications: BLS and ACLS, with NIHSS also required and PALS preferred
• Recent experience with fresh open heart patients required
• Experience with mixed ICU patient populations required
• BSN not required for this position
• Must pass a proctored Dysrhythmia test onsite on day one (Pass/Fail)
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to cardiac ICU patients, including those with fresh open heart procedures and mixed ICU diagnoses
• Facility can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment (3 shifts for shorter assignments)
• Holiday coverage is not currently required but may be requested
