Description
American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for an Outpatient Oncology Infusion position requiring an active NY RN license, OCN and Chemo certification, and 2+ years of outpatient oncology/infusion experience.
Details
- Work in a hospital-based Outpatient Infusion Center
- Care for oncology and infusion patients requiring treatments such as IV antibiotics, chemotherapy, biologics, immune globulin therapy, and blood product transfusions
- Perform procedures including peripheral IV insertion, PICC line placement, and central line maintenance
- Day shift schedule with hours varying between 8am-4pm, 8:30am-4:30pm, or 9am-5pm
- No weekend requirements
- No on-call requirements
- Uses Epic EMR
Requirements
- Active NY RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certification (AHA)
- Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification required
- Chemotherapy certification (ONS) required
- Minimum 2 years of current outpatient oncology and infusion experience required
- Peripheral IV insertion experience required
- Port, fistula, and catheter access experience required
- IV certification highly preferred
- BSN preferred
- Epic EMR experience required
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
Additional Information
- Provide specialized infusion nursing care including administration of chemotherapy, biologics, and specialty medications for conditions such as Crohn's disease, rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, and chronic kidney disease
- Deliver patient teaching for self-administered medications
- Perform therapeutic phlebotomies and maintain implanted infusion pumps
- COVID vaccination encouraged but not required
- De-escalation training required for all new and returning staff as part of onboarding
- Personal scrubs required in any color without designs, cartoons, or hoodies
- 8 hours of non-billable orientation provided
- Facility may cancel up to 5 shifts per 13-week contract with 2-hour notice
- No more than 5 days of RTO may be requested, and must be submitted prior to assignment start
- Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility or in specified NY counties (Albany, Columbia, Dutchess, Fulton, Greene, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Ulster, Warren, Washington) may be considered for a discounted travel rate
- Previous travel nurse experience preferred
