Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg-Tele Float position requiring travel experience, a TN or compact RN license, and flexibility to float across multiple units.
Details
- Float position covering MS/Tele, SD/PCU, and possibly ICU units depending on skills and facility need
- Day shift schedule of 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
- Patient ratio of 1:7
- Weekend requirement of every other weekend or 2 weekends per month
- Cerner EMR used for charting, with Omnicell medication system
- Floating required in accordance with facility floating policies and clinical experience of the nurse
Requirements
- Active TN or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; ACLS needed to float to SD/ICU
- NIHSS certification can be obtained after offer
- Certifications and licensure must not expire within 45 days of the start date
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- Travel nursing experience required
- Must be able to pass EKG testing prior to start date
- Cerner charting experience preferred but not required
- Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and line management including central and PICC lines preferred
- Experience with respiratory care including chest tubes, tracheostomy care, and oxygen administration preferred
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and telemetry preferred
- Experience managing GI, GU/renal, and neurological/psychiatric patient needs preferred
- Experience with medication management including insulin, heparin, and PCA preferred
Additional Information
- Provide nursing care across medical-surgical and telemetry units with potential floating to step-down, PCU, or ICU based on competency
- Utilize cardiac monitoring and respond to dysrhythmias, participating in rapid response or code team activations as needed
- Manage patients with a range of conditions including GI, respiratory, renal, and neurological diagnoses
- Holiday and holiday week RTO requests will not be accommodated for a defined list of holidays and local school breaks
- RTO requests can be addressed with the manager after arrival onsite using the facility RTO form
- Local candidates within 75 miles of the facility may be considered at a reduced rate
- Candidates who were previous permanent staff at this campus cannot return within 24 months, though they may work at another Covenant Health campus after 12 months
- Travel team members who are spouses or family members cannot be placed on the same unit
- Annual and orientation training modules are required and vary in length based on department
