Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit position requiring recent Level 1 or comparable Level 2 Trauma experience and expertise in neurosurgical and neuromedical patient care.
Details
- Work in a 10-bed Progressive Care Unit within a hospital setting
- Care for a Primary Stroke Center patient population including Medical patients with Neuromuscular disorders and Meningitis
- Treat TBI and Spinal Cord Injury patients
- Care for Surgical patients including tumor resections (brain and spine), spinal surgery, and head and neck cancer cases
- Support Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH) Trials with Lumbar Drains
- Day/Night rotation schedule with 36 or 48 hours per week
Requirements
- Active RN license (NH or Compact) currently in hand
- BLS certification mandatory for all candidates
- Recent Level 1 or comparable Level 2 Trauma experience required within the last 2 years
- Experience with arterial lines, ventriculostomies, subdural drains, and lumbar drains required
- Experience with hemodynamic monitoring and invasive BP monitoring through arterial lines
- Experience with Bi-PAP/C-PAP and trach C-PAP patients on the ventilator (NSCU/ISCU)
- Experience with low dose pressors, vasoactive medications, and inotropes
- Experience administering Mannitol and 3% saline (NSCU)
- Experience with trach care and complex wound management
- Experience managing lines, tubes, and drains for post-surgical patients

- Provide specialized nursing care to neurosurgical, neuromedical, and post-surgical patients in a high-acuity progressive care setting
- Manage complex equipment including ventriculostomies, subdural drains, and lumbar drains
- Local candidates not accepted; must reside outside a 75-mile radius from the facility
