Description
American Traveler is hiring a Charge RN for a Med/Surg night shift position requiring an NE or compact RN license and at least 1 year of experience.
Details
- Acute care Med/Surg unit with 42 beds serving medical, surgical, and orthopedic patients
- Charge RN role for nights, typically without a patient assignment but may take patients if staffing is short or census is under 22
- Nursing ratio of 1:6-7 under a dyad care model with dedicated CNA support at the same ratio and a virtual nurse at 1:30
- Charge nurse present on each shift
- Central telemetry monitoring available with telemetry on the floor
- RT staff available 24 hours on the floor
- No titratable drips other than Heparin
- Uses EPIC EMR
- 12-hour night shifts, scheduled 0630-1900 or 1830-0700
- Weekend and holiday coverage required as needed
- No call or standby requirements
- Floating required to PCU or Burn units
- Unit-specific orientation includes one week of classroom training followed by two 12-hour shifts on the floor
Requirements
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- Active NE or compact RN license required, pending licenses not accepted
- Driver's license required at time of submission to confirm residency
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility
- Artificial fingernails prohibited in all patient care departments
Additional Information
- Charge RN responsibilities include overseeing shift operations and staffing coordination
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Must pass an open-book, pass/fail exam during orientation on skills learned, requiring a 90% score to continue in the assignment
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, verified via driver's license
- Candidates may not have been employed full time, part time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit-associated facility, including CHI or Dignity, within the past year
- Up to 7 days of RTO may be requested upfront for the 13-week contract, with no additional RTO approved afterward
- Facility may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment
