Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Inpatient Rehab/MedSurg night shift position requiring a Nebraska or Compact RN license and at least 2 years of relevant experience.

Details

  • >Inpatient Rehab unit within a Level 2 trauma, acute care hospital setting
  • 35-bed unit with patient ratios of 1:5 days and 1:6 nights
  • Patient population includes adults and geriatrics with stroke, spinal cord injury, amputation, brain injury, critical illness, and neurological diseases such as MS and Parkinson's
  • Charge Nurse present on every shift
  • Nurse aides/patient care techs on unit at a 1:10-15 ratio
  • Uses EPIC EMR
  • 12-hour night shifts (1830-0700), cyclic self-scheduling
  • Weekend requirement of at least every 3rd weekend
  • Holiday requirement of at least 2 holidays per contract
  • No call or standby requirement
  • Floating required to MedSurg unit
  • RNs are not required to titrate drips, though antibiotics, anticoagulation, and antiplatelet drips are common on the unit

Requirements

  • Active Nebraska or Compact RN license required, active (not pending) at time of consideration
  • BLS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Acute care and Level 2 trauma experience preferred
  • EPIC EMR experience preferred
  • Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills required
  • Driver's license copy required for consideration
  • Two professional references required: one supervisor reference from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor reference from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility
  • No artificial fingernails permitted in patient care areas

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care to adult and geriatric rehab patients recovering from stroke, spinal cord injury, amputation, brain injury, and neurological conditions
  • Unit values strong communication, organization, teamwork, innovative problem solving, compassion, inclusion, integrity, excellence, and collaboration
  • Unit-specific orientation includes classroom orientation plus two 12-hour shifts on the unit
  • Candidates must pass a required skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90%; failure to pass will result in termination of contract
  • Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, verified via driver's license
  • Candidates may not be currently or recently employed (full time, part time, or PRN) directly with any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity
  • Up to 7 days of RTO must be requested upfront for the 13-week contract; additional RTO will not be approved after submission
