Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with pediatric and NICU experience for a night shift position at a community-based hospital, requiring float coverage across adult critical care, ER, and high-risk deliveries.
Details
- Community-based hospital setting supporting Respiratory Therapy and Neuro Diagnostics services
- Night shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:30
- Required to float between high-risk deliveries, NICU II, Adult acute care, and Emergency Department
- Additional float coverage may include Adult ICU, Adult Med Surg, Adult Progressive Care Unit, and Labor & Delivery
- Full-service community-based Emergency Department requires assisting with pediatric care as needed
- Floating within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital is 100% required for all travelers
- Every other weekend required (Saturday and Sunday)
- Holiday coverage required for 2 of 3 major holidays, as determined by the leadership team
- Cerner charting system used
Requirements
- RRT license required if applicable
- Minimum 2 years of experience required
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications required
- Cerner charting experience preferred
- Experience with high-risk delivery attendance and NICU care preferred
- Best fit for candidates with Adult and Labor & Delivery experience
- Skills in ventilator management, airway management, oxygen therapy, and medication administration required
- Experience with CPAP/Nasal CPAP/BIPAP and High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) required
- ECMO, Oscillating Ventilator, and Umbilical blood gas experience preferred
- High frequency jet ventilator and high frequency oscillator experience preferred
- Nitric Oxide (iNO) and Theophylline administration experience preferred
- 2 supervisor references required
- First-time travelers accepted
Additional Information
- Provide respiratory care services across adult, pediatric, and neonatal patient populations
- Assist with high-risk deliveries and support NICU II patients approximately 30-40% of the assignment
- Support ventilator management, airway management, and oxygen therapy across multiple units
- Participate as part of a multidisciplinary care team supporting critical care, emergency, and neonatal services
- In-state residents (IN) are considered local candidates
- Local candidates are not accepted for this position
- RTO of 5 days or less can be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval
- Candidates must work 2 of 3 major holidays
- Any current or former PRN/perm IU Health employee must be separated for 12 months before applying as a traveler
- Current or past IU Health travelers with 12 months of accrued travel employment must complete a designated break to reset eligibility, taken in one consecutive period
