Description
American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN - Telemetry with 2 years of medical-surgical experience for a fast-paced 23-bed unit specializing in orthopedic and GI surgical patients.
Details
- >with cardiac and O2 monitoring capability
- 23-bed medical surgical unit caring for orthopedic, spine, general surgery, and bariatric patients
- Unit receives an average of 10-20 post-op patients daily and may take overflow from medicine areas
- Night shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts from 19:00-7:30
- 14-week assignment length
- Float to other units within skillset or to a nearby affiliate hospital as needed
Requirements
- Active RN license (Compact or KY State)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required in specialty
- First-time travelers considered only with several years of experience caring for post-op orthopedic and GI surgery patients
- Current BLS certification required
- Must pass EKG exam during onboarding
- Skilled in telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Experience with IV therapy, central/peripheral line care, and PICC line management
- Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, nasal cannula, and tracheostomy management
- Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
- Experience with surgical drains, peripheral nerve block catheters, and total joint replacement care
Additional Information
- Provide medical-surgical and telemetry nursing care to a busy post-surgical patient population
- Must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible for consideration
- Expected to work 3 of 5 Winter holidays
- Returning permanent staff must be gone from all affiliated facilities for 6 months before returning as a traveler
- All requested time off must be disclosed prior to securing the assignment
