About
Nestled in the foothills of the Allegheny Plateau in north-central Ohio, just an hour's drive from Columbus, Mansfield has lots to offer, including a connection to Hollywood. The city served as the primary filming location for 1994's Oscar-winning Shawshank Redemption, and the Shawshank Trail brings visitors to many filming sites like the Historic Ohio State Reformatory. Malabar Farm State Park, also featured in the movie, had another connection to big stars; it’s where Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall tied the knot. The park includes a working farm, walking trails and the "Big House," built by Mansfield native and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Louis Broomfield. Tours are available to see all the original furnishings and personal items. While exploring downtown Mansfield, sample award-winning craft brews in a renovated mortuary and enjoy everything from casual bites to fine dining at the many local eateries.
