Description

American Traveler is seeking an RN for an Intermediate Care/Stepdown unit position requiring telemetry proficiency and 2+ years of experience.

Details

• Work in an acute care Intermediate Care/Stepdown unit within a hospital setting
• 32-bed unit with all private rooms
• Care for patients with a wide range of medical conditions including COPD, CHF, diabetes, sepsis, renal issues, DKA, alcohol withdrawal, overdoses, pneumonia, and other respiratory conditions
• Treat neuro, surgical, and cardiac patients including those with BiPAP, CPAP, tracheostomies, chest tubes, NG tubes, PICC lines, central lines, ablation/cath lab needs, and dialysis
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 3-4 patients per nurse
• Uses EPIC EMR and Pyxis medication dispensing system
• 12-hour night shifts with rotating weekends and holidays
• Floating required, with travelers prioritized for floating assignments
• May float to ICU (with extensive ICU experience) or Gen Med floors, with adjusted patient assignments based on level of care

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required
• Current certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Must be able to accurately read telemetry strips
• Must be comfortable managing chest tubes
• EPIC EMR experience preferred

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for a diverse patient population with complex medical and surgical needs
• Participate in a holiday and weekend rotation schedule
• Orientation consists of one day with the education team and one day of floor orientation
• Scrubs of any color are acceptable for dress code
• Local candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility are eligible for local rates
• No radius rule restricts eligibility for this position
