Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Stepdown/PCU Nights position requiring at least 1 year of relevant experience and an IN or compact RN license.

Details

• Work in a 26-bed Stepdown/Progressive Care Unit within a hospital setting
• Care for a diverse patient population including cardiac, neuro/stroke, dialysis, post-operative, respiratory, and general med/surg overflow patients
• Manage patients requiring telemetry monitoring, IV drips, central lines, PICC lines, and oxygen therapy including CPAP/BiPAP
• Night shift schedule from 18:00-06:30
• 13-week assignment length
• May float to other med/surg units as needed

Requirements

• Active IN or compact RN license
• BLS certification (AHA)
• ACLS certification (AHA)
• Minimum 1 year of relevant nursing experience required
• Nursys license verification required within 30 days prior to start

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care for medically complex patients requiring close monitoring and frequent assessment
• Perform comprehensive assessments including respiratory, cardiovascular, neurological, and hemodynamic status
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, vital signs, and lab results, notifying providers of changes in patient condition
• Administer medications safely, including IV medications, per physician orders and hospital policy
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, case management, and other disciplines to optimize patient outcomes
• Educate patients and families on diagnosis, treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the EMR
• Recognize signs of patient deterioration and escalate care or activate rapid response as needed
• Adhere to infection prevention protocols, fall precautions, and patient safety standards
• Radius rule applies, allowing local candidates at a reduced rate depending on facility location
