Description
American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist with 2+ years of NICU and/or PICU experience for a pediatric acute care hospital day shift position.
Details
- Work in a children's acute care teaching hospital with 400 staffed beds
- Level I trauma facility setting
- Pediatric critical care unit serving NICU, PICU, and Emergency Department populations
- Uses EPIC charting system
- Day shift schedule, 3x12 hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
- Weekend rotation required every other weekend
- No on-call requirements
- No floating outside of service line required
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapy experience required
- NICU and/or PICU experience required
- BLS and RRT certifications required
- NRP and PALS certifications preferred
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Level I trauma experience preferred
- EPIC charting experience required
- Skilled in ventilator management including CPAP, BiPAP, high frequency oscillator, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
- Skilled in airway management including intubation assist, extubation, and tracheostomy care
- Experience with medication delivery systems and administration of respiratory medications
- Proficient in interpretation of arterial blood gases
- Experience assisting in high-risk deliveries preferred
- License required if applicable
Additional Information
- Provide respiratory care services to critically ill neonatal and pediatric patients
- Collaborate with a pediatric critical care team in a Level I trauma teaching hospital environment
- First-time travelers accepted for this position
- Scrub attire is flexible, any color or facility-branded apparel accepted
- Facial hair must accommodate proper respirator fit testing or must be shaved
- Candidates must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility
- RTO limited to a maximum of 7 days per 13-week contract, with no time off permitted during the first week of the assignment
- Permanent employees of the health system must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Standard travelers may work up to an 18-month period before requiring a 3-month break in service
