Description
American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a PCU float pool position requiring KS/MO or compact RN license and recent telemetry/stepdown experience.
Details
- work in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) as part of a float pool position with no assigned home unit
- Float within scope to approximately 5 Med/Surg Intermediate/PCU departments and other metro campuses as needed
- Patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:5
- Day shift schedule, 3x12 hour shifts from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM
- Weekend requirement of 8 shifts within a 6-week schedule period, combination of Friday/Saturday/Sunday
- No on-call responsibilities
- May be assigned Charge RN duties and holiday shifts as needed per unit
- Care settings include MS/Tele, Cardiac Telemetry, and Neuro Stepdown units
- Utilizes cardiac monitoring equipment, 12-lead EKG, AirVo, Voalte, and Omnicell systems
Requirements
- Active RN license - Kansas and Missouri or compact license required in hand at time of consideration due to float requirements
- Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required; ACLS preferred
- 2 years of recent specialty experience required, including a full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months with no employment gaps greater than 90 days
- Prior charge nurse experience preferred
- Experience with dysrhythmia interpretation and management, telemetry monitoring, and care for cardiac, stroke, sepsis, GIB, AFib, renal failure, and COVID patients
- Experience with pre/post cardiac catheterization care required; sheath removal experience preferred
- Preferred skills include IV therapy/phlebotomy, port access/management, blood product administration, central line care, and feeding tube management
- Two professional references required: one supervisor-level or above and one charge RN, both from within the past year
- Completion of EPIC training module or test-out option, infusion pump training, and glucometer training required prior to start
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and care for a variety of complex medical-surgical and telemetry patients
- Floating required between departments, units, and metro campuses as facility needs dictate
- Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for this travel position
- Maximum RTO of 7 days permitted during the assignment
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Returning staff must have a 3-month break in service and 18 months since previous assignment; permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Travel partners are not accepted for this position
